    How To Get Free Advertising

I know it sounds to good to be true but it is true if you know what to say . I am sure that some of you would like to grow your business like I did but you did not know how and you were afraid to spend a lot of money on advertising without getting results. I was determined to promote my company without spending a lot of money in fact I had to because I had no money and I was new to the business. It took some time but I finally found a book that explained in a nut shell how to get the media to provide free publicity in many forums like newspaper, radio, and tv but there was a catch you had to answer their questions correctly. If you know how to talk to the media they will promote your business for no money. Since I started using this technique my business has doubled and I never have to worry about getting business even with the slow economy.

I don't have much time for advertising (or reading for that matter), and I really don't want to do it Can I read sections of this book and apply them as I have time? How much time do you devote per week to marketing? Do you work with a crew or just do the paperwork stuff?  How big is your company?  Thanks! Dorie

Maybe I am tired, was the book mentioned?  Are you selling something, maybe I should read your post again...

I don't mean to bother you, but you seem to have a knowledge of the cleaning company and I am just starting out.  I have recently started a cleaning company and I have no idea where to start.  I have seen a couple of jobs I can try to bid on, but I don't know how to start.  I would like to do home and business cleaning, but what prices do I charge?  Do I charge per room? Per item in the room?  By square footage?  And what is an acceptable amount for each item?  Is there a place I can look to see what other people in my area are charging for what?

Boy, I don't think I can help you very much.  Prices vary based on location.  NYC prices are significantly different than Goshen IN.  You could call other professionals in your area to see what they charge, but they may not very willing to give you suggestions if you're competing in their market.  I know how I market in my area, but certainly wouldn't be qualified to help you set prices.

The original post is quite vague, but I am guessing the OP is talking about creating your own press releases.

To the next few questions, a little market research will determine your local going rates...but you have to factor in YOUR own rates based on the cost of running your own business and what profit margin you need in order to stay in business.  I would call around to see if anyone is willing to disclose their rates and then compare it to your own calculations.  Like it was already said, one area is different from another so it would be hard for us to tell you what the market will bear in your area.  As an example, I charge $25 to $35 per maid depending on the type of cleaning performed (residential, maintenance, one-time, etc).
