    Windsor Sensor s12 vacuum

Hello all.  I have had it with the Miele cannister vacs.  They do a nice job but way too many repairs.   We do residential but are starting to break into commerical work so I thought I would post here instead of in residential.

I was considering buying a Windsor Sensor S12 upright.  Does anybody have experience with this model?  It will be used in homes until we get our commercial business going.  As always the saleman tells me these are the best.  I heard they are very durable from another commercial cleaner.  I am concerned about the sensor itself going bad.

I am not sure but can they be used on hardwood floors without damage?  The cannister was nice on hardwood since the heads switched out as needed, one for carpet one for hardwood.

Thanks for any ideas and help.

    Jim

I never used them but they do look like a good vacuum.

the best vacuums I have ever had were the Royal commercial.

we recently switch to powr-flite lite weight upright vacuums.

bought about 15 of them. they $uck, fall apart and break constantly.

I'm going to switch back to the royals. for residential I don't think they would

be of great choice but for commercial the royal commercial are great.

if your going to be doing residential carpets and hard wood floors back and forth

and be able to use the same vac for commercial, maybe the best choice for your situation

    would be a back pac.

I wouldn't recommend spending the money on a Windsor for residential IF you'll be sending teams to do the cleaning... too heavy and they'll tear it up. Get a lightweight disposable from Wally World instead. However, if you and/or your business partners are going to service the homes yourselves then go ahead and get one. I've heard good things about them. But $400.00 + for a resi vacuum seems like overkill to me. Most of your resi customers aren't going to care what kind of vacuum you use as long as it's clean and gets the job done. Whatever you do, don't get an Oreck. They suck. Not!

Hazel why not use Oreck?  What wrong with them?

I love Kenmore canister for residential cleaning.

    Kristian,

The Orecks aren't really made for serious residential cleaning if you ask me. They frequently become clogged and the belts break regularly. They are always needing a tune-up. Out of 6 Orecks, I only have one that still works and it's on its last leg. They get clogged if they get within a hundred yards of a real dust bunny. They're made to clean hotel floors... you know, the ones that don't look anything like the ones at HOME, lol!!! Plus, they don't have any attachments which just doesn't cut it... I don't want my people carrying any more supplies & equipment than they already do... no handheld vacs.

I have some Dirt Devils... they're pretty good but not good enough... the wheels can't handle employee abuse.

I also have several Bissell Feather Lites... these are THE BEST but also the loudest of the bunch. They are way too loud but they keep working and working and working... kinda like Timex, lol. They're an ugly green... man, are they UGLY and LOUD. But they're cheap and can handle hundreds of resi cleanings without fail... napkins, bobbie pins, paper clips.
