How much does it cost to put up a website? Ballpark. Does it cost to maintain? What costs are involved?

I have a website thru Yahoo.   I got a great deal.  I only pay 11.99 a month. It has great perks to it like yahoo publisher where it helps you build your site.  I maintain it once a month.  You can add stuff and remove stuff as needed.

I got mine through OfficeLive from Microsoft.  They have a three-month free trial and it ranges from $19.99 per month to $39.99 per month.  I maintain it myself a couple of times a month.  I created my own site.  I have the top 8 of 10 links on Google on the first page using certain keywords.  Many of my other keywords (metatags) bring the site up on the first page as well.

You can get a basic site for about $250 if someone else does it.  Some of the work I have seen of those charging that much has been very simplistic but have a nice layout.  I am not sure about how the sites fare out on search engine rankings.  I know of one site <cough> that advertises them for about $130.  I can put one up like that in about an hour.  I don't know about the rankings on those either.  Let's just say they've never come up on my own radar.

I know of one person in the industry that does cleaning websites for about $500 up front and then charges per month for maintanence.  Those are a much higher quality site.  Those come up on search engines.

I have considered offering it myself for a reasonable fee.  Not sure if I ever will though.  In my opinion, there's a need in this industry for something "fresh" to come out!  Between those three providers I cite above, they are all starting to look the same.

I totally agree there is a huge need for cleaning websites and related graphics. I see the same pictures again and again. The websites are generally simple in design and something that I can create myself for less money than what they're asking. I'd like to see more sophisticated sites, like ones that have little buckets for the buttons and perhaps a "live" estimate form... you know, where the prospect can input data about the home and get a price quote right on the screen!!! Now that's something that I would pay for because I just don't have the time or patience to do this myself. I could do it. I know how to do it. But I don't wanna to do it, lol!

My "live estimate" feature should be up and running within the week.  It's something I have been working on lately!

We are on the same sheet of music.  :)

I do the same as Kristian i use yahoo.

    I think i pay $19 a month. I should of only

purchased the $11.99 thuogh. they give you

more space than you actually need.

I just spent 20 minutes replying to these posts and when I hit the post button the damn thing disappeared!

I get turned off when I look at the websites that all have the same gorgeous house, the same rooms, the maids cleaning the perfect, spotless kitchen. I don't like looking at the cleaning buckets, rubber gloves, scrub brushes, etc. They all look the same, they're boring and there's nothing on them that would make me want to hire them.

About a year ago, my sister's son started designing a website for us. He had a little broom for the cursor, buckets for the buttons, etc. Unfortunately it never came to fruition because my sister and I couldn't agree on a damn thing. ['nother story that some of you have already heard] A lot of the craft websites have some really cute designs. Some people would think that it's too "cutesy" for the cleaning business, but I think that if you didn't go overboard it would be different and fun without being tacky and for residential it would be great.

Anyhoo, that's why I really like Torrey's website. It's different. The colors are calm and soothing. You can almost smell the scents. I think it projects "clean" and it's done in a classy way. It elevates the "cleaning ladies" to a higher level.  When I see the buckets and gloves I think "dirty, gross toilets, grime", which is what we clean, however, when I see Torrey's site I envision the end result. Fresh. Clean. Smells great. Relax. Am I making sense?

I offer the same services that Torrey does--all natural, aromatherapy cleaning, custom cleaning. I'd like my website to project the same thoughts and emotions.

Give me some ideas on cool things and I will create them for ya, make it easy to so all you need to do is copy and paste one line of code! :)

    Loren,

I've been wanting an instant quote form like the one on this website. If it's asking too much, I totally understand. Believe me... I understand, lol! I'm just throwing this out there for your consideration, lol. :)

Anything is possible, let me see what I can do w/ that, would require you to enter your pricing for all those factors but nothing i don't believe that would be to difficult!

    Re: websites

I registered my domain name and the website is also hosted through www.godaddy.com

I believe it is $9.99 per year for the domain  and $3.99 per month for the website

Of course, you still need to provide a website, which I manage myself.   But you can't beat 3.99!
