I am cleaning a 7000 sq. ft. house. About 6000 Sq. Ft. is tiled. Mid way during construction the house had a fire so the tile floor has a lot of dried red clay mud where the fire department came in. I am looking in to buying or renting a hard floor cleaner. Any suggestions as to which model to purchase. I don't want a commercial machine as I usually only have a sunroom or foyer with tile floors. This house will break my back if I have to mop it. I figure if I get a residential type machine I can also use it the homes with less tile floors.

I'm not really sure what exactly it is you want the machine to do.
Do you want it to lay down solution, scrub and then suck it up?
Just scrub?

The only thing that might come close to laying down solution, scrub, and sucking up the water is one of those small little carpet machines. I don't know if it would really save that much time though over a commercial mop and bucket set up. You could also look into microfiber mopping systems at a local janitorial supply house.

I wonder if there would be a way to control the flooding with pressure washer? It seems like that would make short work of the mud.

Yes, I would like it to scrub and suck up the water. I was just in Walmart and saw a machine called Floor Mate. It is only $140.00, may be worth it for this job and the smaller jobs. Just trying to save some time and my back.

I have one client who likes me to use the floor mate. But it doesnt seem to save any time. Also it does minimam amount of scrubbing . doesnt hold much either. just my 2 cents on the floor mate.
I d rather mop it up. or use a wet vac. if its really bad.
